Transition was defined in a previous post as:
“… changing from one thing to another. Specifically for ABI participants it is making the change from being in the program to leaving the program.”
This semester my students and I have started expanding our definition of transition, as shown below:
- transitioning from the ABI program to something else (e.g., school, volunteering, retirement)
- transitioning from one team to a different team within the ABI Program
- transitioning from post-acute rehab or a home environment into the ABI Program
This may not seem like a significant change, but by expanding our definition, we are better able to identify specific needs for students within each group. This allows us to focus on relevant tasks during our designated weekly transition time.
Stay tuned for information related to our transition class and how we help students prepare for their transition.
